Yay! Only 4 days to go until I’m off to Disney World to meet all the fabulouso Mommy bloggers. I’m really looking forward to meeting them and hearing all about their adventures in the great big blogosphere. I’m also going to be hanging out with Kim, as in Kim L. from Pa, my sweet and talented Moms Panel friend (you all packed yet Kim?).

Anyway, I’m off to the library tomorrow in search of a good book for the long trip to Orlando. I’m looking for suggestions. Here are my deal breakers:

  • Nothing historical. Yawn. That’s just not my thing.
  • Not big on science fiction either.
  • Not interested in anything non-fiction this time.
  • Don’t like anything set in another country. Usually. You’ll notice a few exceptions below.

If it helps here are some of my favorite reads:

  • A Thousand Splendid Suns
  • Water For Elephants
  • My Sister’s Keeper
  • Poisonwood Bible
  • The Time Traveler’s Wife

So, you read any good books lately? I’d love to hear your suggestions…help keep me busy so that I don’t bite my freshly manicured nails down to a pulp during the excrutiatingly long flight.

Darcie,
I’m not packed! But I’m so excited about the trip.

Books I recently read:
The Guardian (easy light reading)
Memory Keeper’s Daughter
The Road

Oh, and by the way, I loved My Sister’s Keeper!

Me again!

I had to choose between packing Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult and the 5th Harry Potter book which have both been waiting on my nightstand. I’m bringing the smaller of the 2 since carrying a large hardcover book could be cumbersome! Gotta leave room for shoes. Ha!

I just finished The Pact by Picoult & loved it! If you liked My Sister’s Keeper (and I did) I think you’ll like The Pact.

Have fun!

Darc, I like the Mitford Series by Jan Karon. They are very light reading and cutesy. Have a safe trip.

Kim: I’m assuming that would be Plain Truth then? That was a good read. Lifetime made a movie out of it.

Memory Keeper’s Daughter has a subject that is near and dear to my heart but I just thought it was okay. I won’t go into it more until after you read the book I wrote though. Oh, Memory Keeper’s Daughter was made into a movie recently too. I haven’t watched it yet. It’s on the DVR for when I get home though.

Hi Nana~ (okay I feel a bit strange calling you Nana)
I liked The Pact too. But My Sister’s Keeper was way better. I’m on the waiting list at the library for her newest one – Change of Heart.

It’s a long list though…

Gram~
I think I’ve seen those books before, lying around the motorhome or something. I’ll have to check into them. Thank you!

I’m reading Change of Heart right now too. Just finished Nicholas Sparks – The Choice and it was good. :)

I can’t wait to hear all about the mommy bloggers!

(and I want in on your book read too ;) )

Darcie – I loved the Mitford series also. It’s a Christian series that just warms the heart. My mom also loved them. If your gram like those books, she’ll probably also like the Joan Medlicott series – Ladies of Covington. When mom finished that series, she called me & said she felt like she was losing her best friend. They are that good!

Have fun on your trip! PS – I like the shoes!

Since I keep forgetting to tell you, I saw a book in my Best Life magazine that I thought you might enjoy – The Rain Before It Fallsby Jonathan Coe.

It looks like we have similar tastes in books! I loved most of those that you listed. Recently I enjoyed The Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan.
