I have an educated guess as to where that bat, i.e. partial bat came from.
You may have heard the saying “they’ve got bats in their belfry” about someone who is a little strange or even dingy-as in “dingbat”.
Now I’m not going to gurarentee this, but I would guess that if you check your own personal belfry you will find that you are a bat short!
No, you don’t need to thank me. When you get my age you will realize that many things that are mystifying to you are obvious to someone like me.
