Birds. I have never seen so many pretty birds in one place in my life. The robins hop around in our garden digging for worms. The humming birds spend a lot of time in our garden and they love the potted basil on our deck. Never knew they would like basil flowers so much! The bluebirds nest in our birdhouse every year. The goldfinches rip my gerber daisies to shreds each summer. They sit right there in my flower box. I’ve gotten some beautiful shots of the pair of them together.
When we first moved in, I would sit awake at night, feeding Henry, and listen to the owl who-who-whoing away.
You can hear the woodpeckers on the dead tree in the woods outback and they are pretty easy to spot with their bright red heads.
I’ve seen eagles soaring above, and hawks in the tree out back.
And Blue Herons, too.
And unfortunately, my family and I have even been circled by vultures–talk about creepy.
If you’re a bird lover, this is a great place to be.

Shopping. I swear within a one (ok, maybe two) mile radius, there is absolutely anything you could possibly want! It was one of the main draws when we moved here!
Happy Friday, and have a great weekend!

chocolate!
Some mornings if the wind is blowing right, I can smell chocolate from the Hershey factory a few miles away.
Enjoy a great weekend. I love Friday!!

Hi neighbor. :) Yes, sunsets here are beautfiful. Last night’s was no exception. I’d have to say heat and cactus…we have that pretty much covered here… ;)

Dry Air.
Although we’ve had a little bit of moisture in the air. Just not enough to make my thirsty skin supple.
And can I say I am jealous of Kim answer!

Weather
We have seasons, we have hot in the summer, and cools off at night, no humidity. And if its too hot, drive 30 minutes and you are at the beach. We have spring, fall, and in the winter, it can get cold, but no snow.
We can’t beat the weather here on the central coast of California, and we have great wine!

road construction
Yep, it’s started already. I have to find a new route to get into our neighborhood almost every day right now while they work on a water main project, and orange barrels are springing up every where I go. Ah, Michigan. Where there are but two seasons – winter and road construction. :)

Dogwood trees. We have so many around our neighborhood, when they bloom in April it looks like snow on the trees. It’s stunning and never fails to take my breath away.

family activities!
We moved about 18 months ago and chose this town specifically because of how family-friendly it is. There are parks and playgrounds everywhere, recreational sports leagues in all seasons, plays, a free summer concert series, a lovely farmer’s market…you name it, we’ve got it. I love it here!

ALLERGIES.
It’s the worst here. But the good thing we do have is families and community.

When it comes to being smack dab in the middle, the place I live has the market cornered. Within 2 hours (and sometimes much less), I can be at the beach with the surf and sand or the mountains with snow and skis or farm country with speckled cows or the city nightlight. Love it.

I have to agree about Arizona sunsets – they’re magnificent.

rain
It will not go away. Normally I’d say orchards, there are so many around us but the rain will not stop. We have a little sunshine this morning but they are already saying the rain will be back today. I should go enjoy the sunshine.

When it comes to deadly animals, the place I live has the market cornered. Australia is great and the average local doesn’t fall prey to too many of our dangerous animals, but check out this song by our awesome musical duo, “The Scared Weird Little Guys” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wy_TB6onHVE – Cracks me up every time I hear it!

Cornfields. I see ‘em everyday.
But a close second would be: candle/pamperedchef/marykay/southernliving/creativememories/stampinup/uppercasel/ onceuponafamily/bunco PARTIES. They drive me crazy in this neighborhood.
