This Info Will Come in Handy If You’re Ever on Jeopardy and They Have a “Darcie” Category
Tracey at Grace Comes By Hearing has tagged me to play along in this meme. Who am I to turn down a tag?
What were you doing ten years ago?
I was relatively newly married and living in California. I spent my days having tea parties, sing-alongs, and marathon Candyland playing sessions with my busy preschooler, Torri. Baby Kennedy occupied quite a bit of my time (and breast) as well.
What are 5 things on your to-do list?
1. Put away piles of freshly laundered clothes.
2. Put together a creative teacher appreciation gift for the kids to take to school in the morning.
3. Clean out my linen closet.
4. Handle up on some Mothers Day cards.
5. Sit down and enjoy mommy and daddy time with my poor neglected husband.
What are 5 snacks you enjoy?
1. Fresh fruit by the bowlful! Pineapple, kiwi, strawberries, melon, grapes. YUM-O!
2. Kashi crackers.
3. Fruit leather strips
4. Chocolate orange sticks.
5. Almonds
What would you do if you were a millionaire?
If I won one million dollars I would pay off my house and our cars. I would spread the wealth around to my extended family. I would take each of my daughters on an unforgettable mother daughter trip. Jeff and I would hire a nanny to accompany us while we took the honeymoon we never had. I’d give generously to St. Judes and the families of deployed soldiers. I’d set up college funds for my nephew and niece. Oh, and I’d become very familiar with the employees at Z Gallerie.
Name some of the places you’ve called home.
The NICU waiting room of the Medical College of Georgia. The weight room of my former high school where we practiced cheerleading longer and harder than seemed necessary at the time. The couch in my mom and dad’s living room where I lived off and on when I struggled as a single mom. The kitchen and laundry rooms of every house I’ve lived in during my adult life.
As far as states go, I’ve lived in: California, Tennessee, Georgia, Colorado and Arizona.
What are some of your bad habits?
I’m a pessimist. I offer too little praise and too much criticism to the people I love the most. I’m not as patient as I strive to be. I’m a perfectionist. I let my tongue get the better of me when, many times, I’d do much better saying nothing at all.
What are some jobs you’ve held?
Not many paying ones. I sold lemonade at the county fair in high school. I worked at Burger King to pay for my first car. I was an AmeriCorps member; my role was to mentor pregnant and parenting teens. I worked as a cashier and a pharmacy tech at Wal-Mart. I’ve been paid to write. The jobs I do not get paid for though are far more difficult and important than any of the ones mentioned above.
Who are you tagging?
I’m tagging anyone who’d like to play along. Let me know if you do because I’m curious to see what you come up with!
Thank you for remembering Teacher Appreciation Day! Not many do! Yah for TEACHERS!!!
Oh heck, I’ll play. But I’ll have to do it later…baby is waking, kindergartener needs to catch bus and I’m STARVING. It all happens at once around here, Darcie.
So fun to get to know a little bit more about you. I am going to play (and post) mine on Saturday!
Kellie
So fun to hear more about you! I’m a fresh fruit girl too - love it - especially blueberries and apricots. I also like fruit leathers and fruit snacks (I admit). I also like your comment about hiring a nanny to bring along with you on a trip. I think that’s really the ideal situation - you have your kids close by, but you also get some alone time with your husband!
We have similar bad habits. I’m sorry for you! lol
And…I have very slowly, amidst a sad computer breakdown, been trying to start a blog, so I will play along. Sure, the design is ugly, but I’m looking for help in that regard so overlook that. And also overlook that I haven’t written much. And it’s not creative. And there are no pictures yet. (gosh I am lame-o)
I backtracked over here from kristen’s blog at No Small Thing. I love your design!
