Anyone Up For a Scavenger Hunt?
Big news around these parts. I’m edging ever closer to a blogging milestone. And what better way to celebrate than to host a giveaway? But seeing as how I like to be different, this isn’t your typical ‘leave a comment and potentially win a prize’ type giveaway. That’s too easy. I’m going to require that you familiarize yourself with my little blog here if you want to win what I’m giving away. Here’s the deal:
I’ve made up five questions about random things I’ve posted about in the past. As you can see I’ve included links to assist you as you hunt for the correct answers. Once you read each and every word find the correct answer, you have to take two steps.
* Send me an email with your responses.
* Leave a comment here telling me which of the posts you found most entertaining.
This giveaway will end around 5 pm Arizona time on Wednesday, July 16th. Once I have contacted the winner I will post his or her name here. Obviously that means that you’ll need to supply me with a valid email address. And please accept my apologies but I can only ship the prize to US addresses.
What is the prize? Well, now that is (partially) up to the winner. He or she will receive a $50 gift certificate to Borders, Bath and Body Works, Pier 1, Gap, Buca di Beppo, Banana Republic, Bed Bath & Beyond, DSW Shoes, Express, Lands’ End, J. Jill, KB Toys, Destination Maternity, Shutterfly or Sephora. Winner’s choice. For clarification that means winner chooses one. Not winner chooses all.
So what do you think? Is it worth playing for? (I sound like Jeff Probst don’t I?)
Survivors ready? And go!
1) Which MD inspired my “people who smell bad” concept?
2) Besides learning to read, name another accomplishment of This Child.
3) What type of produce mishap led to this post?
4) How old was I when I first became a mother?
5) What adult beverage did Brooke and I drink on the porch?
Yeah, so, that’s about it. Have fun and good luck.
Fun! I must say your giveaway is going to completely blow my teeny tiny one out of the water, but that’s ok. As long as I win yours.
So, the post I love the most (although I wouldn’t call it entertaining…more like heartfelt and tear-inducing) is This Child.
Thanks, Darcie, and congrats on 100!
SO FUN, you will be getting an email!
Also check me out Saturday, a giveaway…my first!
This Child is by-far my favorite.
My favorite post was the “people who smell bad” sequel to the “high quality” people post. I love both of those concepts. Probably because that’s how I think about these things too. Congrats on reaching a hundred! Now you have to write one hundred random things about yourself!
FUN CONTEST!!! I just sent you an email. The post I found most entertaining was ‘HEY MISTER, I’M A LETTER WRITER’ The post that touched my heart was ‘THIS CHILD’
My favorite post was the “hey Mister, I’m a letter writer” I want to say things all of the time in the store - I am glad i am not the only one!
Of those five, my favorite is your post about your third child. What a blessing. Praise God, indeed.
My favorite would have to be My Child - OF COURSE. I was so touched and I am sure that it wasn’t just because I am pregnant, I was fighting back the tears. Tears that I shared with you, tears of the unknown for my child and then tears of strength that I pulled from you as you grew into the strong mother that your child needs.
This was a great way to introduce us newbies to your site. I really look forward to reading more. I too was a young parent and gotten it together and now have 1 more plus 1 on the way (read a total of 3). Thanks for a great contest and opportunity! Keep up the great work!!
You sure have had an interesting roller-coaster of a life. This child was inspiring. I love it when you can say ‘ha ha’ to the doctors who think they know it all!
Actually, I enjoyed all of the posts. I think I like This Child the most, because on a smaller scale, I can relate. It was a touching, beautifully written story.
It’s strange I guess, because I normally enjoy the more humorous things…I need that laughter to get me through the day. But I guess the honesty and the beauty of your story really touched me, and many others.
I like them all for different reasons, but I think This Child totally rocks.
I love the “this child” post… so touching! And let me say, I hate doctors that say a child won’t be able to do anything. My sister-in-law was told that her son would not live past a few years, never walk, never have control of his left side and never talk. He is now a thriving three year old, and while he has had brain surgery to remove half of his brain, he is walking, talking and thriving. His new doctors have high hopes for him. Oh, did I mention the doctor that removed the portion of brain had the same diagnosis when he was a baby???
The My Child post, although the produce post was awesome.
I emailed you… my favorite blog was “This Child”. How beautifully written! It brought tears to my eyes, but good tears! Thanks for the great giveaway!
I liked the about me post. I dunno if it was the most entertaining, (the head of lettuce story was pretty funny) but I like to read ‘about’ people. Great giveaway, thanks!
I found the “Hey Mister, I’m a Letter Writer†post most entertaining but I don’t agree with the eww about the lettuce, I would wash it off and use it still. The chicken thing is gross though, I really can’t stand people that decide they don’t want a perishable item and leave something like a pint of ice cream next to the canned goods.
I enjoyed all your posts. This Child is a wonderful post.
This Child- About your beautiful daughter.
I like the Hey Mister, I’m a Letter Writer post. I hear about all these kinds of things with my husband working in the bakery department. I get told what goes on in the deli and other departments. The stuff gets worse then that and it makes me cringe.
I like the lettuce. I also saw the freegans and felt so guilty… and then proceeded to continue to reject fruit on the top of the pile because other people might have been more likely to touch it.
Though it was a bit of a tear jerker, I liked ‘This Child’.
This child is a wonderful post.
I choose “this child”.
I thought the best answer was “16 going on 12″.
My favorite–though not the funniest–is This Child. I had tears in my eyes. Email coming!
I enjoyed, “Who Am I”
gkstratos@ yahoo.com
My favorite was your post about the lettuce. Its just interesting because I have seen that same exact thing happen at that same exact store (I think) and had the same exact reaction! Ewwwww! I guess that’s why they say “aways wash your produce”. There must not be the same cleanliness standards and laws that they have in restaurants. Beware!
The most entertaining is the one about the lettuce. I shudder to think what else is going on that grocery store. Ew. But The Child is my vote for most beautiful and amazing post.
This child is my favorite. My daughter also has down syndrome and that post just touched my heart.
This Child was beautiful, and I totally get the people who smell bad thing. Can I have two?
This Child was my favorite story.
I love all of your posts - and I’d read most of these already. ‘This Child’ bring tears to my eyes, but I also love reading your ‘Who Am I?’ and learning more about you.
The My Child post was not only inspiring and lovely, but entertaining as well when I saw that beautiful girls smile.
Def the “this child” post, I just finished reading The Memory Keeper’s Daughter (not the greatest book, but not bad) and I fell in love with Phoebe and her innocence and love.
I’m not sure “entertaining” is the right word, but I thought that the “This Child” post was very heartwarming.
Thanks!
This Child is a wonderful post. I have one sister and between the 2 of us, we have 4 children. She has 3, I have 1. Out of the 4 kids, 3 have been born with some form of handicap. I have spent my entire adult life fighting doctors over what a child may or may not ever accomplish. I’m so glad you didn’t let their words discourage you. You’d be amazed at how many people do.
what a lovely name, what a lovely picture ( and I mean this as no offense because I think they are darling) ; in your picture you look like a fairy! You’re just so gosh darn so cute!
Anyway, I found most inspirational of course, your poem about your daughter. Very touching and straight to the heart.
What I found most entertaining, however, was your post on Brooke and yourself. Boones Farm? I remember pre baby, pre adult.
I emailed my entries. I’d have to say that the, “Hey Mister, I’m a Letter Writer”, post was the most entertaining. Thanks for the fun
I relate to the Produce post! I have thought the same thing
GREAT POST AND A GREAT GIVEAWAY!
My favorite post is “R.I.P. Stellaluna (just do it elsewhere please),” but like everyone else, I also love “This Child.”
Sent in my email! As for the most entertaining? Well the one that mentioned me of course came in a close second because of the wonderful memories it brings back but the one I enjoyed the most was “This Child” I love reading about her triumphs and all she has overcome and look forward to reading about her future triumphs as well.
What fun. I really liked your post about smelly people. I too was looking for a list but enjoyed the post as it was.
I liked the Such the Spot post. I love to hear where terms, sayings, and inside jokes come from.
I’ve always been a fan of the “Why ‘Such the Spot?’” post. I like the visual of you kicking back with your friend and a bottle of Boones Farm. It brings me back to the day, you know? Hanging with my college girlfriends, pondering life.
I liked the post of how you named your blog. I think everyone has a girlfriend or two that they have made a comment that always brings them back in time to where they were when it was first mentioned.
I liked “This Child” and “Who Am I?” most - I alway get sucked in to the “personal” ones. And you have such a great writing style…
I can’t pick a favorite, I LOVE them all! Reading your blog is the highlight of my days…
Only one???
Well ‘The Time He Spent Easter At Traffic School’ just cracked me up. As did ‘High Quality People’ (because we hav pretty much the exact same conversations here).
But I have to be completely un-original here and say that ‘This Child’ still makes me bawl every time I think about it. (And praise God again!)
Okay, mine is done. Loved this idea, btw.
My favorite post? Well of course, This Child. She is amazing!
One of my favorites is “Tacos With a Side of Egg On My Face” I was giggling right along with your children at the sight of a lady staggering around speaking loudly to her invisible friend!
Its hard to pick a favorite. This Child is one of my favorites and People Who Smell Bad is a good one, too.
This Child is my favorite post, that made me want to give her a big hug.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Your “This Child” post most touched my heart each time that I read it. I look forward to hearing about her future accomplishments!
For most entertaining, I liked your “People who smell funny” post best. It was funny and I have felt this same way before. The science behind it was quite interesting.
You have really written 100 GREAT posts. Congratulations on your milestone. I look forward to reading many more!
I love “The Lettuce Post” (Hey Mister I’m a Letter Writer!). I’m with you 100% - ew.
[...] and don’t forget that I’ll be announcing the winner in my gift card giveaway Wed. so if you haven’t entered, now is your last [...]
This Child was my favorite. Really sweet pictures.
This Child was the most inspirational….thank you….
this child was most touching for sure, but the pheromone thing was really interesting.
I was very touched by the “This Child” story. I’m glad I found your site!
Thanks for the fantastic giveaway!
I enjoyed reading your post, This Child. I love hearing stories of children overcoming things. What a touching story!
My favorite was ‘This Child’. It was so touching!
