No I Do Not Need To Attend AA Meetings. Thankyouverymuch.

This is my dining room.

Clearly it has some issues.

It has good bones I think.  That is, if you consider the mirror, furniture, and words printed on the wall bones.  I like those things.

(Translated from Italian, those words say - It is written: Man does not live by bread alone).  Because you might have been wondering.

I know I would have been.

Moving right along though.

When we moved into the house most of my decorationg dollars went elswhere.  The formal dining room just wasn’t a priority.  It is, however, a very visible room in our house and now that the remainder of the decorating is pretty much done (or done for now at least) this room bothers me.

And when a room bothers me I do what any red-blooded American mom does.  I go to Target.

This is what I picked up last weekend.  (Did I mention how much I love Target?)

I know the flash on the camera didn’t do a thing for picture quality, but work with me kay?  Those two long signs are tin with lots of tin wine labels affixed to them.  That “merlot” picture is a close up of the two long signs so you can get the picture.

Aren’t those cute?  Love them.

I’m also making a drapery for the bare naked window.

I made my husband hold the fabric up for me the other so I could see what it would look like when all is said and done.

He laughed at me because as soon as he placed it I said, ”that’s going to look rich.”

I said it out loud.

I’d had a glass of wine and rich was the adjective that the silk fabric brought to mind.

Not rich like money but rich like, well, rich.

He’s been making fun of me for it pretty much all week since.

Whatever.

It will  look rich.

I’ll post pictures when I’m done.

And then you all can tell him just how rich it looks.

He wouldn’t dare make fun of all of us.

And of course by ‘all of us’ I’m refferring to myself and my six loyal readers.

You ladies do have my back on this one right?

  1. Oh baby…I’m sure your blog friends will agree…that room will be soooo rich! ;-)

  2. Oh, I definitely have your back!! LOL And BTW, I Loooooove Target too! Like my 5 yo said yesterday on the way there, “Don’t worry mom, we’ll find what we need, Target never lets us down…” I tend to agree with that. Good luck on your decorating, can’t wait to see the finished product.

  3. Ha ha! That sounds so much like something that would go down in our house. I say something clever and descriptive, and then my husband makes me pay for it for, well, forever. :) It’s all good though, and I’ll bet it will look rich!

P.S. I love me some wine, too.

  4. Can’t wait to see those photos - post them once you’re done! Gorgeously rich, I think!

  5. Followed you over from Musings of a Housewife. Can not wait to see the pictures of the finished Dining Room. Also a huge fan of Target! And don’t worry about your husband. It’s his way of saying he loves you. My husband loves me ALOT! ;-)

  6. Of course it will look rich. What is he thinking?

PS) Shouldn’t this be filed under ‘Times I was Right’???

  7. Me

I LOVE IT! WHAT COLOR IS THE RICH FABRIC? That will probably be my favorite room!

  8. I was just thinking, “Man. That looks rich.”

Can’t wait to see the pictures!!

  9. Oh, not to worry, I got your back. It will look totally rich. :) Can’t wait to see the finished product. (The pictures are very cool, btw).

  10. I absolutely have your back…

And I love your dining room!

It already looked rich. So I am sure the draperies will make it look uber-rich.

And with the amount of time you and I spend in Target it’s no wonder we don’t see each other there all the time!
I looked for you this morning at the grocery store…but you weren’t there.

    ;)

  11. Did you smell the wine before taking the first sip? hee hee, and I agree, the room already looks so nice… so organized… so rich

  12. Grams

I am so looking forward to critique the new decorations in October. I bet it will be RIch looking.

  13. I can’t wait to see the end result. Oh, and I too make my husband hold stuff up all the time so I can get an idea of what it will look like. I love Target too esp. for their Pottery Barn knock-offs. Why pay top dollar when we can get something that looks just as good for less?

  14. See, the hub leaves for just a bit, and you get all stir crazy and redecorate. And then he doesn’t mind because he’s been gone and what’s a few dollars anyway? And you’ll have a fabulous room when you’re done. Have I got it right? Hmmm?

I’ve got your back rich girl.

  15. Kristen

Your dining room has great bones, and your new Target finds will fit in beautifully. I can’t wait to see the window treatment you are going to make. I am sure it will look perfect! You are talented in so many different areas! I have your back too, btw!

  16. I can’t wait to see it! I love the bones, and I love the…flesh that you have picked out!! You can’t go wrong with wine, baby!

  17. [...] new dining room is a big improvement, no?  One might even call it, oh I don’t know, rich [...]
