I have a couple of random questions.  I’m hoping you can offer insight.

- Have you gotten a flu shot and if so how much did you pay for it?  The reason I ask is I’ve never gotten one before but last year I promised myself to get one this year.  For some reason I’ve always thought that you could get them for around $10.  I can only find them for $30 though.  Figures.

- About how long of a shower do you take?  Mine is roughly 12 minutes long.  I’m asking because I need a fair sampling to offer up to Torri when I demand once and for all that she (Little Miss Green btw) cut her shower time in half.

- What’s your favorite magazine?

- When you go to the hygienist to have your teeth cleaned do you wince when she is getting ready to floss between your two front top teeth?  I had my teeth cleaned today.  After I suffered through the ordeal the hygienist failed to give me a toothbrush.  She did, however, scold my flossing habits before sending me on my way.  Jeff and Torri had their cleanings today too and they didn’t get toothbrushes either.  I know economic times are tough.  But no new toothbrush from the dentist?  For real?  C’mon.

Okay.  That’s all for now.  Back to your regularly scheduled day.

-I always get a flu shot. When I worked the company paid for them. Now I see them for $25. I would have sworn that I got mine free from the doc though. The kids are free I think. (hope) I need to call and schedule those tomorrow.

-Shower length…? 10 minutes maybe? Never timed it.

-Showing my true inner child, I’d have to say Highlights. Annie just subscribed and I love it! LOL For grown-ups, though, I’d say Townhall or Family Fun.

-I neglect my gums as well. And come to think of it, I didn’t gte a new toothbrush on my last trip to the dentist either. Nor did Annie when she had her emergency trip a few weeks ago. I’m picky about toothbrushes anyway though, so I never use the freebies.

I think flu shots go for $25 around here. I don’t get one anymore though….

Shower – depends on whether its the ‘full treatment – hair, legs, exfoliate, and wash’ or ‘just get clean’. The former is about 15-20 minutes. The latter, about 10, maybe less.

Magazine? Hmmm. I guess if I have time I love National Geographic. At the salon – a parenting mag. At home, perusing Family Fun while on the potty for a second.

I still get a new toothbrush. Flossing my front teeth doesn’t bother me but I don’t like a hygienist’s whole fist in my mouth to floss between my molars. I just save the freebies for traveling, Samaritan’s Purse kids, or guests who forgot theirs.

Flue shot…no…I haven’t had the flu in over 10 years and until they can guarentee me that I won’t get sick anyway…no way.

Shower…depends…If I’m getting ready for work 10 minutes….if I want to lounge and do everything…primp and shave legs….20-25….hubby takes much longer then me.

Magazine…Solutions, People sometimes….not much into magazines for the reading value…LOVE BOOKS HOWEVER!!!!

DENTIST…I would rather go see ANY other doctor…including anything gynocological then to see a Dentist! I only see the dentist every other year…i know bad, but I just can’t do it ….

Michelle@Life with Three on October 14th, 2008 at 6:04 am #

Never gotten a flu shot. I did get the flu last year and that pretty much stunk. I’m figuring that will probably protect me to some extent this year.

10 minutes, probably 12 tops.

I’d have to go with Shape or Fitness. I also like Scholastic Parent & Child. (Sorry, that’s three.)

I don’t usually wince. But I do always get a toothbrush. You need to hightail it on back and demand that brush, girl! :)

Annabelle@Christian Momma on October 14th, 2008 at 6:22 am #

I don’t get a flu shot, no help there…

I take about a 15 minute shower…sometimes a bit longer if I’m shaving

I don’t have (or haven’t found) a favorite magazine

I have never gotten a toothbrush from a dentist before….ever!

I have decided that my response probably wasn’t much help!!

Flu shots here are $30.00 this years. Paid 27.00 for mine because I got it at the grocery store ( tacky I know) and got a 10% discount because I have a store bonus card. Really cost about a $100.00 more because I bought groceries too.

Shower is about 7 minutes. Don’t shave in the shower though. We have a well and a drought, so I have speeded shower time up.

Southern Living I like the recipes and my husband likes the gardening section.

Don’t usually mind the cleaning. I go next week, so I will see if I get a toothbrush. Might ask for one if they don’t offer it.

Hi Darcie – I have the pleasure of holding your Godson, Adam, as I write my comments!!

I did get a flu shot at my primary doctor – it actually cost me nothing since it was done on the day of my regular check-up and my co-pay covered it all.

Shower – no longer than 12 minutes!

Favorite magazine – BHG Scrapbooking – Great magazine!!

I don’t even like to talk about the dentist!! Sorry!

Never have gotten a flu shot, neither has anyone in my family.

Shower is 10 minutes on a good day.

I love People Mag.

Kids had their cleaning yesterday and both got toothbrushes.

Musings of a Housewife on October 14th, 2008 at 10:07 am #

I never get a toothbrush either. HMPH.

I have no idea how long I’m in the shower. 10 min?

I never get flu shots. And I never get the flu. I am skeptical. I say this every year, and every year I expect to get pelted with the worst case of the flu EVER for flaunting my rebellion against the flu shot. But I never do.

Jen@OurDailyBigTop on October 14th, 2008 at 10:27 am #

We all get flu shots. I got mine at Costco last year and paid $20 (?). It’s worth it.

Never timed my showers but I’d estimate about 10 minutes or so.

Favorite mags: InStyle and Real Simple

I’m not good at flossing either and the hygienist knows. I think that’s why they dig/clean a little harder to punish me. The kids went yesterday for a cleaning – all but one cooperated. Wanna guess which one cried the whole way through? The hygienist laughed and said it was fine b/c his mouth was open!

Kelly on October 14th, 2008 at 10:43 am #

I don’t get flu shots.
I haven’t timed myself, but my showers are quite lengthy, maybe 20 minutes.
I love the dentist, but I have to admit flossing is not my favorite part.

kellie@LaVidaDulce on October 14th, 2008 at 1:23 pm #

Flu shots here are anywhere between $20 – $30. But it’s worth it! After having the flu, I will be getting mine this year.

RE: the shower, I have never timed mine…I would be interested to read you comments and see if I am normal…in shower length at least!

I took the kids to get thier teeth cleaned last week and they both got brushes and stickers and little bags with goodies in them.

I think y’all got gipped! LOL!

Jenny on October 14th, 2008 at 1:52 pm #

I am preggers so I will be getting the flu shot for the first time this year. I wasn’t pregnant during flu season with my last baby so I didn’t bother then.

My insurance covers flu shots if I get them in conjunction with an office visit. I have a prenatal visit scheduled in a couple of weeks so I’ll get one for free then. Are you due for your annual? If so, it might be a good time to double up!

Shelle-BlokThoughts on October 14th, 2008 at 2:25 pm #

I go to the Health place and they are free there. WoW can’t remember the official name…health services? Okay I’m a freak…when I remember I’ll come back! lol!

Michele on October 14th, 2008 at 3:55 pm #

I haven’t gotten a flu shot in a really long time, but every year I tell myself I am going to get one b/c every year I get the flu – YUCK!

Depending on if I shave my legs or not depends on my shower time *grin* Normally 10 minutes on average I would say.

My favorite magazine that I actually read is “Runner’s World” However, I love to find the longest line in the grocery store so I can flip through “People” but very rarely do I ever buy it.

No, I don’t wince – at least I think I don’t. It’s funny that you say that about the toothbrush b/c at my kids’ last cleaning NONE of them got a toothbrush or a goody bag!!! WHAT? I know times are hard, however, I know the dentist can still afford to give out toothbrushes!

Cindy on October 14th, 2008 at 4:00 pm #

Paid $20 for my flu shot.

9 minute shower.

Real Simple is my favorite magazine.

We always get new toothbrushes at the dentist. They are the nice brushes too. If they did not give me one I know I would say something. I would not be able to stop myself…

Susan on October 14th, 2008 at 6:28 pm #

I have never gotten a flu shot and my kids get them at the pediatrician’s office.

I am guessing my shower is about 10-12 minutes depending on if I shave.

Favorite magazines are Cuisine at Home and Parents.

The flossing doesn’t bother me at the dentist’s office and I always get a whole goody bag with toothbrush, floss and lip balm.

Nicole on October 14th, 2008 at 10:53 pm #

1. I always take my chances and skip the flu shot. But have you tried Costco? I think they do them…and probably cheap.

2. Probably around 10-12 min. But I can remember my dad knocking on the bathroom door during my teen years, saying “Ok…that’s long enough” (after 20 minutes…)

3. Hmm. Not a big magazine reader, but I do like my Scrapbook Memories subscription curretnly.

4. I HATE getting my teeth cleaned. Yeah, for all that pain and suffering, the least they can do is give you a $.37 toothbrush to keep you coming back…

TJ Hirst on October 15th, 2008 at 10:18 am #

We paid $25 for our flu shots last year at the school. I will definitely do it again. When I’m at the library every week I read Real Simple. Like, but don’t subscribe.

Merrie on October 15th, 2008 at 1:24 pm #

I can’t remember what I paid for a flu shot a few years back. I get them for free at work — next Wed, in fact. I’m grateful for the little things.

Showers vary if I have to shave my tediously long legs. 6-7 minutes without, and probably 12 with.

Taste of Home magazine is pretty awesome. Great recipes!

Seeing the dentist in 2 weeks — not excited. But I like him and will hope for no cavities. I, too, DREAD the flossing. It always hurts and they always bleed — plus I get the lecture. Ugh. I’d better get my toothbrush, though! He gives a good sized one, which is nicer than the tiny little kid sized ones my husband gets from his guy.

Carolyn on October 15th, 2008 at 4:59 pm #

Never gotten a flu shot…don’t ever intend to either. My brother in law got deathly ill after his last shot….seriously!
Showers-no longer then 10 minutes.
Magazine…Southern Living is so nice.
Dentist…HA! That’s funny! Since it’s been about 7 years since I’ve been I wouldn’t know if they give a toothbrush or not! I HATE the dentist! I know I know…I’m gross with my yellow teeth!

sari on October 17th, 2008 at 9:36 am #

I have never gotten a flu shot but I have seen them for $10 or $20. $30 seems high to me!

My shower is roughly the same as yours. My ten year old recently has discovered a love of showers, so I have to tell him to get out after about that long as well because he loves to have it super hot.

My favorite magazine….hmmm. I guess I don’t really have one. I used to love In Style, but they are so ridiculous now – either everything is super expensive or they’ve got some fluff piece about a celebrity I don’t care to read. And they use a lot of words and phrases that just strike me as ridiculous anymore. But I don’t turn down a chance to read it when my best friend offers me hers. I like Domino magazine – it’s a home magazine. I try not to read too many mazagines.

I just went to the dentist and got not only a new toothbrush but toothpaste, floss (regular) and floss (sticks) and sugarless gum. So I’d say your hygienist is being discriminitory against you because the drawers in my dentist’s office are stuffed full of toothbrushes. Oh, and I got two Patrick stickers (from SpongeBob) for my kids. Anybody with Patrick stickers is good in my book.

- We rarely get flu shots in our household (and won’t get them this year). Many reasons…

- Shower length: 10 minutes maybe?

- Favorite Magazines: Kiwi and FamilyFun.

- Yes, I totally wince at that part.

Deb - Mom of 3 Girls on October 18th, 2008 at 8:03 am #

Thirty sounds about right for a flu shot – I’ve seen them for $25 or as high as $40 too. I usually get mine as part of a regular office visit to my doctor though, so it’s included in the co-pay that I already pay for that ($15). I just got mine this past week when I had a doctor’s appointment.

That reminds me though that I need to call the pediatrician and get the girls in for theirs… :)

Deb - Mom of 3 Girls on October 18th, 2008 at 8:08 am #

Whoops – forgot to answer the others… ;)

Shower length – depends on the day. I wash my hair every other day, so my shower is usually either around 5-7 minutes or 15 minutes.

Favorite magazine… I’m not really sure actually. It’s been so long since I read a non-parenting one – and I only read those because they come in the mail and I feel it’s a waste not to. I do get some good information out of them, but it’s sometimes hard to find.

No toothbrush? Jeesh, that’s crazy. I usually get a new toothbrush and floss even. For me though – I wince at the flossing between my bottom two teeth. Those ones are extra sensitive.
