Proof positive that even someone with Type A tendencies like your truly can put perfectionist ways aside for the good of the children…

I love your gingerbread house. Decorating gingerbread with children is so hard to do for a perfectionist. Congrats on letting your children have fun with it. [Reply]

It looks absolutely perfect to me! [Reply]

So cute! I, too, hate messes like these would bring…so, we have not done a gingerbread house with the kids yet. I was thinking maybe next year…but after seeing of it from that perspective, maybe we should…we’ll see! [Reply]

I love it! That’s how ours turn out too – all one kind of candy on one side. This year I got a kit that has 5 mini houses so that everyone can have their own house to decorate. No fighting which is what usually happens here. Your kids are working so nicely together. [Reply]

The house turned out beautifully! I love the picture of Jayce’s sweet pudgy, little boy fingers! [Reply]

That’s so pretty! Mine were always ghetto because I’d eat most of the candy. [Reply]

I LOVE it! That is absolutely perfect. It makes me smile to look at it. :) And good for you, setting aside your idiosyncracies for the good of the children. :) [Reply]

Those are great! We usually do those every year, and it does take all I have in me not to micromanage the event. :-) [Reply]

Cute, cute, cute! My son walked by and said “Oh! That looks good!”. We did a house and sleigh this year. This is one time where I always set my Type A tendencies aside and do with the kids. We love doing them every year! The kids are still loving seeing it sitting on the table. [Reply]

I love this! Great Job! I make gingerbread houses every year with my students. Using a milk carton as the base, canned frosting as the glue and graham cracker instead of ginger bread. Then the kids bring in their own candy to decorate. [Reply]

So cute! And so funny that you posted this, since that is what we did last night as well. I agree with pp, it is very hard not to micromanage. I stayed out of it rather well this year I think, which is really saying something when your oldest child is 5. And to give them credit, the mess really wasn’t too bad. [Reply]

You put type A aside? Didn’t know that was possible. But I find it most impressive. I’m not good at it. Your kids look like they’re having an exceptionally lovely time. (Are you wringing your hands in the background?) [Reply]
