You know those women who hold out hope that on Christmas morning there will be a Tiffany box waiting under the tree?
Yeah, um, I’m not one of those.
I know there won’t be a Tiffany box waiting under the tree. And I’m cool with that. Not that I wouldn’t be happy with a Tiffany box, but because Jeff and I don’t exchange gifts, I know better than to expect any box, Tiffany or otherwise.
We’re not anti-gift by any means (and I’m happy to forward my address if you happen to be in a giving mood). It just doesn’t make a ton of sense for us to give each other anything because the $$$ is all coming from the same place. So instead of going out in December and buying robes or slippers or flannel pajamas, we pretty much buy what we want (and can afford) throughout the year.
I know that some women would be appalled at the thought of her husband not buying a gift, but it works well for us and I actually prefer it that way.
That said, I still dream big. And I certainly wouldn’t complain if a generous and indulgent Santa found his way down the chimney at my house.
And just in case he’s a fan of this little blog of mine I thought I’d put together a wish list. Not a realistic one of course. Like I said, this is one indulgent Santa.
So as not to scare my dream Santa away, I’d start my wish list off with a fairly reasonable request…
To replace the current, ugly dining room fixture that came with the house. And then I’d ask for something sensible.
To motivate me to finish all the laundry in one day instead of leave it lingering all week. And since the first two items on my list were so reasonable, it wouldn’t hurt to throw in something outrageous would it?
Because I’ve never had a designer handbag (after paying the price I’d have nothing left to put in it!). But if Santa would be so kind…this would surely be the one. And I’d need a snazzy new techie type item to go inside don’t ya think?
To help me stay connected on the go. But since I’m not always on the go, Santa could help me out at home too.
To make the time I spend in the kitchen oh-so-worthwhile. And what better to add stlye to the apron I’ll be wearing than a pair of these…
To satisfy my little blue box desire. And for good measure, Santa could toss in one of these…
To make my house sparkly. Without me lifting a single finger. I’d be too busy, after all. Doing this…
Because I’ve been a good girl. I have. I’ve worked so hard all year. That’s why Santa would treat me to this…
Because the overworked elves wouldn’t have to toil away in hard labor. Just slip a deed to the newest Disney Vacation Club into my stocking and I’d be one happy girl.
So if you happen to run into Santa at the mall this weekend, be sure to direct him my way. My list is just a click away!

I think I could do with one or all of those! We sooooo have the same tastes as I am learning this each and everyday since meeting you! After 4 years, I am still working on convincing the hubby about DVC! Maybe someday!
Oh hell. One of each for me too, please. Pretty please.
Great list. I’ll be sure to put in a good word for you…if you could do the same for me. I’m only asking for one little thing.
i LOVE that you and Jeff don’t exchange gifts! people always think we are crazy because we don’t either and we have gotten some pretty crazy looks too. we are letting our kids pick out gifts for us only because they specifically asked too. Loving everything on your list too! i want 2 sets of those washer and dryers so i can do it all in 2 hours!
Great list. I asked for a new doormat and a cast iron pot, but your list is so much better. I think I may have to copy it.
I’m liking the list. As cheesy as it may be, the Hubs and I have decided to forgo gifts for each other this year and put the money we would have spent on something we can do together. As in, we’re considering dance classes or something like that. We figure we could use the time for just each other more than anything he could pick out for me or that I could guess at for him (ie. comic books).
I think I share your desire for EVerything on your list. Where’s Santa when we need him?!
Nice list. I could use some of those things, too. Well, pretty much all of those things. Except the earrings…The Man got me those for our 10th.
This year, I asked for a stainless steel toaster. :)
Love it!! Especially the purse!! Stunning!
Just toured the Bay Lake Tower DVC models this weekend, and they are really nice. Nicer than I’d expected. But the studio only has one sink, in the kitchenette. So you’ll be brushing your teeth and fixing your hair and putting on makeup…in the kitchen. Odd, no?
You are a riot. And your taste in gifts is exquisite!
The Mister and I are doing the same things this year. We are waiting for the New Year (and new money!) to redo our kitchen cabinets and to do some things around the house that we really want done. It works for us and is so much better than buying thinggs we really don’t want just so we can say we bought each other something.
Nothing about you at all screams HIGH MAINTENANCE.
Nope. You’re as easy to please as they come.
My husband and I don’t exchange gifts at Christmas either…same exact reasons. It just works for us best that way.
I loved your wish list, by the way. A maid would definitely be on my list too…that and a professional photography shoot after baby #2 arrives.
I have posted that exact same picture of the washer/dryer set on my blog. Pretty sure I’d LOVE doing laundry if I had those. Right?
And sign me up for the cleaning service.
Totally forgot to add that we usually just decide to buy each other things (and typically after Christmas when we can get them cheaper! lol) Stuff like ‘let’s buy a new TV and call it a gift’ – not so exciting. This year our romantic purchase is…a new handgun! You know, while they’re still available and all. rofl!
You put together the perfect X-mas list! How do you do it? You act so nonchalant, but you really have your eye on the prize or should I say prizes! I actually dream of one day having that washer and dryer–with hopes of never having to iron again! because they have that steam feature…so cool!
Happy Holidays!
Kalisha
You would be the first person on my list to grant a wish too if I had any power!
We missed you in Disney this weekend though I do not know how many more shenanigans(spelling??) Leanne could have handle with Bri, Heather, Michelle and I creating trouble while we were there.
Let me tell you I had a lot of fun!
Love ya!
You and I would get along famously. Well, except for the silver stuff with lids… what is that stuff anyway???? =0)
I have posted that exact same picture of the washer/dryer set on my blog. Pretty sure I’d LOVE doing laundry if I had those
I’m still stuck on that one sentence where you said you buy what you can afford. You know that makes your coolness go up by a factor of about 10 with me. And the wishlist? You can pretty much sign me up for everything on it too. Does your Santa have a gift registry?
