So Kennedy has these two baby molars clinging to life in her mouth. Two baby molars that have held up the orthodontia process (which, by the way, is just fine with me).
I should say had. As in, Kennedy had two baby molars clinging to life in her mouth.
Because now there’s only one.
And a half maybe.
She lost one tonight.
Sort of.
It came out alright. But just the cap of it.
The roots were not attached. And are currently MIA.
That can’t be good, right?
They may very well be in her gums still. It’s hard to tell roots from the tooth erupting behind them from that hamburgery fleshy gum that’s rippled up like a ribbon in there right now.
And yes. I do get the heebie jeebies even talking typing about it.
Tell me you’ve seen this happen before. A hundred times over.
No biggie. Right?
It happens all the time.
Anybody?

I don’t think they have roots when they fall out…just like other baby teeth.
No roots. I just learned this recently because of the thousands of dollars we’ve had to spend on dental work. My son shattered a molar when he was 5, and the DDS had to extract that tooth. The roots were about 1/4 of an inch long–very deep. My 12yo recently had a molar removed, and the tooth had no roots. The DDS explained to me that as the adult teeth move in, the baby roots almost disintegrate, making room for the adult teeth and allowing the babyteeth to fall out.
So you are good–no roots left!
I might have thrown up a little bit in my mouth when I read the part about hamburgery fleshy gums. Nasty . . . . I have no experience except from my own tooth-losing days, which I do not remember at all! :-)
No experience with teeth falling out yet but good to know there are no roots on molars. Thanks for the visualization…breakfast is going to be oh so good this morning.
I think I would call the dentist and make sure, just reading about it gives me the chills…if you can’t get her there with you, take a picture and show it to the dentist quickly and maybe they can tell you whether or not its anything to really stress about…
sigh, its never ending, isn’t it?
good luck!
Um, okay, so I’m sitting here eating breakfast, reading about hamburgery ribbony flesh. So gross.
Oh, and I don’t think there are any roots on baby molars.
We’re actually heading to the orthodontist today for a palate expander. Actually, I think they’re just going to take moulds or something…the actual expander will be for another visit. I can’t wait. Talk about heebie jeebies…
I’m no dentist and my kids have just begun to lose their teeth… but my dentist said that the tooth underneath dissolves the roots of the baby teeth… so maybe the molar has a tooth coming up and dissolved the roots. Call your dentist to check. :)
I was going to say- there shouldn’t be any roots…
So glad that there are no roots. I had no clue…now I know too.
Hamburgery flesh…No meat for me tonight…lol
yea… ummm no help here, but that doesn’t sound good at all!
Tina sounds smart though… I’d say do what she says!
hahahahahahahahahaa!!!!!
yay no dentist i thought i was gonna get gum surgery so they could take my roots out…………eeewwwwwwww they’d like rip apart my gum and they’re gonna forget 2 knock me out so i’d be awake the whole time and they dont notice. then when they’re done, they say “its ok it’ll only hurt a little”
huh. dentists r such liars
Eeek! I am not look forward to that milestone! Tina’s answer sounds great though! lol
I would never have even thought to worry about that. I’ve never expected to see roots. Yuck.
Hmmm…do baby molars have roots?
My daughter was 16 when the orthodontist had her last molar pulled and then he cemeted a little chain onto the adult molar to pull it up through the gum.
No experience here. Sorry. I’m interested to hear what your dentist has to say.
Oh that Kenni, loved her dream.nightmare!
Yeah, I don’t think they have roots on the molars. I’m pretty sure all is good;)
Oh eeek, ouch, woa Mama. Just the thought.
I love her name!
Nell
I got nothin’ helpful.
But ewwwwww!
(Sorry.)
Interesting dilemma, but I got nothin’!
