Yeah. So we had a certain celebration here on Friday night.
One that included a certain cake.
A certain cake that may or may not have necessitated me spending nine hours in the kitchen on Thursday. Ahem.
But you know what’s funny?
What’s funny is the number of emails/comments I got asking that I post pictures of aforementioned cake.
As if I would seriously spend nine hours slaving in the kitchen and neglect to post pictures of the fruit of my labor.
Clearly you don’t know me that well.
Without further ado, though…

It really was a happy birthday.
Good thing.
Because that fondant cake? It was no joke.
Next time I’m totally getting Duff on the phone.

I love it! That looks like true red! It matches the candle! I’ve never braved fondant and am scared of it! Good job! I love the picture of Jayce!
You did an awesome job on the cake! I’ve never tried fondant, but I don’t think I’ll be trying any time soon!
you are fantastic! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
Darcie! FOR REAL? Charm
City’s gonna be calling You!
Steph
SERIOUSLY?!?!
that cake is AMAZING!!!
totally worth the pink hands!!
Um this cake is AMAZING! I am definitely not even going to try to make Jayci’s cake after seeing that . . . I’m totally impressed :-)
Holy Sh*t. I have nothing else…
You are amazing! Come to Indiana and make me a cake… and a margarita!
Is the point of this post to make me feel like total loser mommy?! Wow! Amazing!!
omg…that is too cute! I think we did a Mickey Mouse birthday a few years back…but that was way before MMC became too popular (or even out? who knows?)
Anyway, the last time (heh, and only time) I had to deal with fondant was a very long time ago for a baby shower…and I ended up giving the job to my SIL the baker (btw, she didn’t like messing with the fondant either!)
Thanks for sharing the pics!
OMG…..Fabulous!!!! Great job!
What a lucky guy, what a fantastic cake, you are amazing!
Amazing cake, girl!
Here’s the problem, tho, with making such and awesome cake for a three year old: What are you gonna do next year? How are ya gonna top that?? You got at least 15 more birthday cakes to do for this kid! Hope you have some extreme tricks up your sleeve.
Seriously, I’m totally impressed. I have set my own bar so low (what? I stuck the right number of candles in that pan of brownies!) that my kids usually prefer to make and decorate their own cakes…
That cake is beautiful!!! I am so proud of you. And you should know if I lived near you I’d be bugging you all the time to teach me how to do that.
And seriously, that cake is red or at least it looks red to me!!!
Great job!
Wow. That’s about all I can say. Wow.
Oh, I knew i just had to wait a bit to see the cake:) And it’s awesome, by the way. You know Robby’s 2nd Bday was Saturday. I just did cupcakes though!
Serious? Amazing. We’ve never done the fondant thing, but my husband kicks butt at creating Disney princesses on cake with white icing dyed various princessy colors with food coloring. I’m thinking he might have to try the fondant thing, though. You’ve sold me, and I’m going to totally blame you next year when I make him try it. :) Way to go!
I am never showing this picture to my kids, because then they will think all Moms can do that. Great job! It looks fantastic!
Great cake! Good job. He’s concentrating on those candles!! Loved “talking” to him (and you) Friday.
I thought I was on Bakerella’s site. WOW!
Wow girlfriend! move over Duff, I say. That cake is really darling–what a great job! =)
That cake is great. I hope you have lots of pictures of it to show him later in life.
OH it is beautiful!!! Just fantastic! So worth the nine hours!
Wow! What a fantastic cake!
You really should submit your photos to a magazine. Amazing cake! Jayce will be impressed…someday.
impressive! Both the running and the awesome cake. I made a Minnie Mouse cake for my youngest’s 2nd b-day with marshmallow fondant and experienced the same trouble with the colors. I think mine didn’t develop it’s true red coloring until after it had sat a while. I am particularly impressed with the number of colors you put on that one cake. Be proud!
That cake is impressive!!
That’s amazing! I’m so impressed! Glad that you had so much fun celebrating your sweet boy. Lots of love went into that cake, that’s for sure!
I love it! You did such a great job. I am impressed!
Wow. That is one impressive cake. You should submit it to a cake decorating contest or something. Seriously.
P.S. Did it TASTE good?
P.P.S. So sorry we missed the big party. I hope it was wonderful.
Wow, that cake is quite impressive! I hope it was yummy.
I’m getting the Food Network/TLC on the phone right away. That is absolutely one freakin’ amazing cake.
Do you deliver out of state?
Awesome job Darcie, and it totally turned out red! How did the marshmallow fondant taste anyway?
That cake is freaking awesome.
I am extremely jealous of your talent!
Wow – that cake is beyond fantastic!!! 9 hours you say??!!! Yikes! I was gonna ask how to do it, but I know my limitations! I’d be on the floor after the first hour – LOL!
I’m seriously impressed with that cake!
Nell
Ok Darc…You.Out.Did.Yourself.
Beyond Awesome!!!!
Holy cow – what an awesome cake! Sorry it took 9 hours but look at the end result!
I am just speechless. Seriously – wow.
That’s adorable! My two year old saw it and said, “that’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!”
OMG! Darcie, you are amazing!
