There are photo books yet to be designed.
Cards to address. Stamp. And ultimately mail.
More shopping to be done.
And the wrapping. Oh the wrapping.
Cookies to be made: a half dozen different kinds.
Fudge to be devoured.
Christmas stories to be read.
Garland to string.
Mistletoe to hang.
Eggnog to sip. {Heavy on the brandy pretty please}.
Fancy Christmas clothes.
Photos.
Maybe even a party or two.
I’m forgetting something. I just know it.
Oh yeah. I’m making Kelly’s chocolate covered pretzels for the bus drivers this year. Add that to the list.
Sigh.
It’s officially December.
The countdown has begun.
The hurry-up, no-time-to-waste, gotta-get-it-done countdown.
The one that leaves little time for what matters most.
For reflecting on the reason for the season.
For just being. With the ones I love.
For breathing out.
For twinkly lights.
For savoring.
Sipping.
Roasting.
Smiling.
Toasting.
Things worth squeezing in.
I’ll bet I can fit them in somewhere.
And I hope you will too.

Look at you! I thought that for sure there would be no blog posts today.
Have I told you (lately) how amazed I am with your writing?
I don’t know how you do it.
Amazing.
you might enjoy looking at adventconspiracy.com It’s about getting back to those things that really matter.
Have a happy December!
Yep. It is here. I’m trying really hard this year to just “do a little” each day…and enjoy that which I’m doing.
For real how did it sneak up like that?!
I fully expected to go here and not see anything, yahoo for you, I miss you guys, espcially now.
My shopping is done, cards are done, and I’m seriously debating doing the holiday cookie baking (and freezing) now. Our focus definitely needs to be elsewhere this year!
PS) I agree with Vanessa – [AC] is awesome!
I love this time of year!
Tell me about it….and I have to squeeze in a birthday celebration or two!
I feel you. I have cut out many things just for this reason and try to do as much as I can by mid-December so that I can enjoy the season with my family. I used to be so busy making their Christmas special that I didn’t enjoy it myself. Another thing that we started doing the last couple of years was taking a small weekend trip right before Christmas to a resort about an hour away. It’s decorated for Christmas and has a huge fireplace in the lobby; we park ourselves there and play games or just hang out.
Mmmm, Christmas is my favorite. :) Sierra (the little one) asked me in the car this morning if we could listen to Veggie Tales. I told her no, because I wanted to listen to Christmas music. Selfish? Probably. Worth it? Yes. She decided to sing a Veggie Tales song and just replace random words with “Christmas.” :) It didn’t make much sense, but it was definitely cute.
