We take an annual vacation in late September/early October.
We go to Walt Disney World, where we walk a cumulative hundred miles around the theme parks.
Unfortunately for my waistline, we also eat our weight in fudge and ice cream and chocolate covered everything.
And our return home is marked by the start of fall food season. What? Doesn’t every family have a fall food season?
Our fall food season includes pumpkin bread and cream cheese-frosted pumpkin bars. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Apple pie. Baked ziti. And countless other calorie-laden comfort foods.
Before long the calendar flips and so begins the holiday season. At about this point I often wonder if everyone views egg nog and sugar cookies and peanut butter balls as figure sabotage, or if it’s just me.
But then comes January 1st. And I pledge to drop the 1.5 pounds I put on at Disney, the 3 pounds I picked up during October, and the remaining {no, I’m not going to share the number thankyouverymuch} butter weight I adhered to my thighs during the holiday season.
And I was on my way, let me just tell you.
But then–dag blast it–they start stocking the store shelves with these little beauties.
And–just like that–I cave. For real. Like, stick a fork in me cuz’ I’m done kind of cave.
Worse yet?
Don’t even get me started on the sinful sugary goodness that is the chick {or rabbit as the case may be}.
Now that my local grocery store has replaced all of the candy hearts with these babies, I figure it best to avoid the scale altogether. At least until, oh May. Wait. Scratch that. Because Cinco de Mayo, with it’s fried tortilla chips and guacomole fresca? Oh and the margaritas. Ole.
How about you? Do you have an Easter downfall?

STOP. I’ve never seen these chicks & rabbits! What are they? Is it possible that they’re a regional thing?
My Easter downfall: Cadbury Cream Eggs. Refrigerated. Yum.
I noticed those the other day in Target, too! My downfall are Peeps and any Easter candy with peanut butter!
It is a conspiracy! I was just thinking the same thing as the Valentine candy was moved for the Easter candy last week.
My Easter downfall are coconut eggs and homemade Easter Bread! I’ll have to do a blog post on the bread this year – its to DIE for!
Oh, I’m a Cadbury egg kind of girl. Chocolate eggs filled with the liquid form of the yummy white center of an Oreo (or so I think). YUM. I can only handle one or two a season, but they. are. perfection.
I know…it’s SO wrong! I’m a fan of the malt robin eggs.
I’m so not an Easter candy kind of girl, so I’m saved. But I think I more than make up for it in Christmas fudge. Ha.
Oh my goodness – I’ve never met anyone else with exactly the same Easter candy taste as me! Don’t tell, but I nearly polished off a bag of c & r all by myself today. It’s my secret shame… though I did pledge to give it up for the entire month of March (all Easter candy!) in exchange for my husband giving up computer games. I will be victorious, but it will be hard. Stay strong, sister. :)
I’m thankful that I have no real candy downfall. Because I don’t think I could take that on top of my carbohydrates-in-any-form downfall.
OH, I so understand and TOTALLY agree with you…from one fattening season to another.
I am a sucker for the Cadbury Eggs! Soooo gooo!

I saw those little eggs the other day. I almost bought them. But I stopped. Phew. Now I just have to avoid all shopping. Those little eggs? I could eat an entire bag in one sitting.
Those mini eggs are to die for. The hard cracky shell and that smooth creamy chocolate inside….ohh sorry.
Oh I’m SO with you on this! My downfall are the Hershey’s candy-coated chocolate eggs. I am addicted to the darn things and since you can only get them this time of year, I tend to go way overboard. Sigh. Maybe I’ll have to start dieting in April. ;)
My favorite are definitely the marshmallow peeps. Am I the only one who likes them stale?
Peanut butter and chocolate!!
I am of the opinion that chocolate tastes infinitely better when in the shape of an egg or bunny. And for some reason, starburst jelly beans just don’t taste as good at any other time of the year. Hooray for Easter candy!
I have 2 weaknesses:
Marshmallow peeps…yellow please!
Reeses PB eggs…something about the extra plump look that makes them so good.
Did you at least wait for Valentine’s to be over before you bought Easter Candy?
I love love love the Starburst jelly beans! I make myself sick every year!
Yep, our family has already been through a bag of Chicks & Rabbits. They are my “drug” of choice.
yes. anything involving the heavenly combo of chocolate and peanut butter!
Mini eggs are my downfall. And I always tell myself they only come out once a year. Which is probably still not a good excuse to eat large bagfulls of them in a single sitting . . . plus now they have them at Christmas too – what are they trying to do to me!!??
Our Cadbury mini-eggs come in different packaging here – wonder if they taste the same?
Now I am CRAVING mini-eggs!
Easter brings my fave candies! Cadbury Cream Eggs and Cadbury Mini Eggs top my list of must haves!
Oh yes…love love love those Cadbury Mini Eggs.
Way too much!!
