July in Tucson.
It’s when the skies turn the color of tornadoes. If tornadoes had a color.
The air is ripe but the rain is stubborn–not easily convinced.
The occasional zaps in the distance quite literally send electricity–excitement–coursing through the air.
Even the lizards seem to beg for a storm, puffing their proud chests upward. Waiting.
All of us. Just waiting.
Dear Monsoon. Ready when you are. No pressure.

Beautiful.
I remember my brother telling me about the monsoons when he lived in AZ. Gorgeous picture!
Tornadoes absolutely have a color! The sirens were just blaring the other night and I can tell you the sky gets an eerie green-ish, yellow-ish color. The sky is dark and bright all at the same time. And calm. There’s no wind or rain or lightning just before a tornado.
Do you ever get tornadoes in AZ? I would love to watch a monsoon in AZ. It sounds beautiful!
Yep we get those too, without the tornados. I love the color of the sky when the storms come at dusk!
Beautiful picture. Yes tornadoes are an ugly green color like being at the bottom of a murky pond. Unfortunately in PA, we were all too close to one and it wiped out a neighborhood just a mile from us. When I saw the sky drop to the ground and it was an ugly, weird green, Nic and I headed to the basement. I’ll never ever forget that color.
How long does a monsoon last?
It poured like crazy here between 11:30m-1:30am (I was awake, but my family was sleeping). ;)
