Our 4th

July 4, 2010 · 14 comments

There was painting.  Still with the never-ending painting.

There was music.  I’m proud to be an American.  Because I am.  We are.

There was a little boy, decked out in his red, white and blue.  {And a dirty face to boot}.

There was a bbq, just the three of us.

There were old-fashioned bottles of root beer.

There were sore {painting} muscles, loosened in the hot tub.

There was a crackling fire.  ‘Smores with peanut butter cups instead of chocolate bars.

There were three faces missing.  The ache of missing them.

But there was happiness.  Gratitude.  Patriotism.

Happy Independence Day, friends.  Cheers!

I can see that sparkle in his eyes – and it’s not the sparkler that is doing it – what a beautiful little boy. And your girls will be home soon – and then we will see the sparkle in your eyes again.

Great photos of him! I still want to try s’mores with pb cups! In my mind…that will always be “your” recipe. Hope your soreness is a little better today.

Happy 4th to you and your family.

What brand of root beer is your favorite? We’re still fans of good ‘ol A&W.

I will never eat a S’mores with plain chocolate again now that I’ve tasted the greatness of a PB cup one.

Love that little guy’s face.

Okay, I painted this weekend too. What a drag!!! And I don’t even think I like the color I painted. That is a double drag. So sad.

Anyway, your fourth sounds fantastic!!! I may have to try that PB s’more. Yummy!

Seriously going to try the peanut butter smores next time we have a fire in the back yard pit.

Sounds like your holiday was fantastic!

At least you ARE painting. I still have three stripe samples on all of the walls in my living room and dining room. They’ve been there so long I’m starting to tell people it’s the new style.

Post pictures soon please!

We did sparklers too! Two words: Cheap Entertainment.
